Originally constructed in 1911, the building has seen many changes in its history. Previous uses include boat building, machine shop, movie theater, and many others.

Re-imagining the historic language of Sausalito dry docks and timber scaffolds as a lightweight building skin, the Marin Theater inserts itself into an aging building shell to become a vibrant, new community anchor. New uses include a restaurant and large single screen theater on the first floor, and office space on the second floor.
